Serving families in St. Louis has been our mission for 98 years and counting. Building on the tradition of our United Church of Christ founders, today we continue to impact families throughout the city. Neighborhood Houses’ mission has concentrated on strengthening children, families and communities through compassion and quality programs. We refer to it as our continuum of care.
In today’s world that means we reach families differently. We have to connect with them and gain their trust if we are to make a difference in the lives of the children.
Our continuum starts with a Teen Moms’ program called Girls Night Out, housed at Caroline Mission with young women ages 13-22 in each weekly session. This program gives Neighborhood Houses the opportunity to enter into a young family’s life early and provides support for mom and her child.
Our continuum then migrates to our Early Childhood Education program at Caroline Mission. Children are cared for beginning at 6 weeks and continuing to 5 years of age. Our goal is to prepare these children to be successful in kindergarten and beyond. Our responsibility is to partner with parents to help them achieve their desired goals for their children.
Finally, our after school program is held in five St. Louis public elementary schools. This is a safe environment where our caring staff focuses on the whole child, including educational enrichment, social development, life skills and health and nutrition.
By focusing on these three programs, we have the potential to be involved in a young family’s life for 12 to 13 years!
As we continue to create new ways to make a difference in St. Louis, please join us! Your time, talents and treasures will impact the lives of many children and families, and our community.
Thanks for your support!
