| State Tax Credits Benefit Both Donor and Children at Neighborhood Houses! |
As a testimony to the quality of programs at Neighborhood Houses, we are
pleased to announce that the Missouri Department of Economic Development has
issued state tax credits from two state programs, the Neighborhood
Assistance Program (NAP) and the Youth Opportunity Program (YOP).
Both programs allow you to reduce the cost of your donation to Neighborhood
Houses by HALF. This means that a gift of $1,000 actually costs you just
$500. PLUS, with standard federal and state income tax deductions, your out
of pocket costs are even lower. Depending upon your income tax bracket,
your $1,000 gift could cost only $300!
Tax credits are an excellent vehicle to help both the donor and those in
need - the at-risk children at Neighborhood Houses. NAP credits
support renovations at Dignity House and a new roof for St. James Center.
YOP credits support our year-round educational opportunities
for children.
Because we have both tax credit programs, everyone qualifies in some way.
Any individual taxpayer as well as businesses of all kinds qualifies for YOP
tax credits. NAP credits are available to all businesses as well, and
individuals if they earn business income through such things as rental
property or royalties, or if they are part of a partnership or a shareholder
in an S-corporation.
The tax programs actually work very simply. Any donation of $500 is
eligible, and once made you will receive a form that allows you to claim a
credit voucher that you may use during the current taxing year, or carry the
credit forward for up to five years!

Food
There is a tremendous need for food at Neighborhood Houses’ food pantries. The Pantries are always in need of food items such as frozen meats, tuna, soup, peanut butter and pastas as well as personal care items. Planned Giving
