Girls Night Out

A support system helping young moms become great moms!

In September 2007, Neighborhood Houses and Parents as Teachers collaborated together in the design and execution of a program dedicated to supporting and assisting young mothers, ages 13-22. In 2011, the partnership expanded to include Wyman Center’s Teen Outreach Program. “Girls Night Out” is designed to promote healthy adolescent development and address mental health issues prevalent with the young mothers we serve. Our staff strives equip participants with a breadth of tools and resources, enabling the better provide for their families.

In a supportive group setting, young mothers are able to find support, share their hopes and fears about motherhood, learn to balance work, school, and family, and meet new friends. More than 68 young women benefited from this program in 2010 alone.
