Help Your Child Create their Own Modern Day Piggy Bank to Teach Money Management
It’s not how much you spend, but how much you save? Right?
At Neighborhood Houses, we teach children about the basics of money and how to be responsible spenders, savers, givers and investors. We educate children in these areas through a variety of ways, but we encourage the learning to continue at home.
One fun way to help your child become a savvy money manager is create their very own customized, modern-day piggy bank.
What is that, you might ask?
Unlike, a traditional piggy bank with one compartment, the modern- day piggy bank has four compartments for savings, spending, investing and giving.
A piggy bank, like the one shown here, can be purchased, but it is much more fun to help your child make their own bank with everyday items they find around the house, or typically throw away.
Why not save four soup or food cans and decorate them with fun designs? You choose!
The goal, regardless of the materials or designs, is that every time your child (ren) receives an allowance, a holiday or birthday gift, etc. is that they make a decision on how to appropriately divide their money.
